    A very pretty wedding took place at St. Stanislaus Catholic church, Saturday morning when Miss Catherine Martin, daughter of Mrs. Edith Martin and Mr. Charles Joseph Devader, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Devader of Emmett, were united in marriage at a nuptial Mass at 9 o'clock, with Rev. Father Berens officiating, before an altar banked with beautiful cut flowers.

    Nuptial music was furnished by Mrs. Raymond Vande Velda accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Bill Hill.

    The bride was lovely, dressed in a white marquisite gown with finger tip veil and carried an arm bouquet of red roses. The bride was given away by her brother, Charles Martin.

    Attendants of the bride were her two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Weaver and Mrs. Edna Johnson, attractively dressed identical in peach and blue taffeta gowns and carried bouquets of matching flowers.

    Attendants of the groom were his brother Mr. Henry Devader and the brides brother, Mr. Reid Martin.

    The flower girl, Eva Marie Weaver, was a replica of the bride in a white gown and veil and carried a bouquet of red roses. Donald Haglet of Emmett, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer and carried the rings on a white satin pillow.

    The bride and groom were congratulated by many and showered with a friendly hail of rice upon leaving the church.

    A wedding reception followed immediately at the Community Center and was a happy affair. The bride and groom, according to custom cut the first slice of the beautiful three-tiered wedding cake, after which all were served refreshments.

    The bride's mother, Mrs. Edith Martin was dressed in a navy blue dress, with matching accessories and wore a corsage of red and white carnations.

    Mrs. Edward Devader, mother of the groom, wore a flowered navy dress with matching accessories, and wore a corsage of red and white carnations.

    After a short wedding trip to Colorado, the couple will be at home on a farm near Emmett.

    Joe and Catherine DeVader of Delia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett.

    Joe DeVader and Catherine Martin were married Aug. 26,1950. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.

    Their four sons and five daughters and their spouses are Larry and Georgia DeVader, Topeka; Edith Fuller, Topeka: Dave and Cherry DeVader, Topeka; Shelby and Loretta Scott, North Platte, Neb.: Dean and Marcia Wagner, Rossville; Robert and Trina DeVader, St. Marys; Roberta DeVader-Dale. St, Marys; Chief DeVader, Emmett; and Neil and Ranae Baker, Utica.

    The couple have 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Mr. DeVader is retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 33 years of service.

    Mrs. DeVader is a homemaker. She is actively involved with the Jolly Workers and is the dispatcher for the Emmett Senior Citizens Bus.

    Roberta Kay DeVader-Dale

    ST. MARYS- Roberta Kay DeVader-Dale, 51, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
    She was born May 15, 1959 at Topeka, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Martin DeVader. Roberta grew up in the Emmett community and attended Emmett Grade School. She graduated from St. Marys High School in 1977.

    Roberta had worked in food service and had worked for Coyote Canyon in Topeka for many years. She was known as the "Baker Babe" and had owned Pick-A-Pie the past five years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Roberta enjoyed fishing.

    She was preceded in death by her father Joseph DeVader on June 1, 2002, and her infant brother Ronnie.

    Survivors include her children, Eric Daniel DeVader, Wetmore and Montana Lynn Dale, St. Marys; her mother, Catherine DeVader, St. Marys; four brothers, Larry DeVader and Dave DeVader both of Topeka, her twin brother Robert DeVader, St. Marys and Gerald "Chief" DeVader, Emmett; four sisters, Edith M. Fuller, Topeka, Loretta A. Scott and Marcia J. Wagner both of Rossville and Ranae L. Baker Scott City; Grandchildren, Madison Lynn DeVader and Camron Eric Joseph DeVader.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Sat¬urday, February 26, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Emmett. Roberta will lie in state after 4:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2011 at the church where there will be a Prayer Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roberta DeVader-Dale Memorial Fund to be designated at a later time and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys.
