    Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebration For Dodge Couple
    Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dodge, Delia, will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a reception in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 1990, at the Rossville Presbyterian Church, Rossville.

    Hosts for the occasion will be their children: Jim and Jan Dodge, Rossville; Joanne and Mike Bruce, Huntsville, Tx.

    Leonard D. Dodge and Emily S. Horak were married September 1, 1940, in Topeka. They have five grandchildren.

    The couple requests no gifts, please.

    Leonard D. and Emily S. Dodge of Delia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 3 with a family dinner in Kansas City.
    Hosts will be their son and his wife and grandchildren.

    The couple also plan to celebrate with a future trip to Memphis and New Orleans.

    Leonard Dodge and Emily Horak were married Sept. 1,1940, in Topeka.

    Their children are Jim and Jan Dodge, Rossville, and Mike and Joanne Bruce, Huntsville, Texas. The couple have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Mr. Dodge farmed in the Rossville and Delia area for many years and retired from farming in 1987. He continues to work part- time as a security guard at the Jeffrey Energy Center.

    Mrs. Dodge retired from the U.S. Postal Service and continues as a homemaker.

    Leonard and Emily Dodge, Rossville, formerly of Delia, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Rossville Senior Citizens Center, 429 Pearl in Rossville, hosted by their children and grandchildren.

    They were married Sept. 1, 1940, in Topeka and have lived in the Delia and Rossville area throughout their marriage.

    Their children and spouses are Jim and Janet Dodge, Rossville, and Joanne and Mike Bruce, Huntsville, Texas. They have five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

    Their children are compiling a "Memories” scrapbook and would welcome any additions about special times shared with the couple.

    Leonard Dodge
    Leonard Dodge, 92, formerly of Delia, passed away peacefully Friday, February 11, 2011, at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
    He was born April 25, 1918, at Rydel, Kansas to the parents of Claude E. and Flossie McMullin Dodge. He lived in the Belleville area before moving to the Rossville community in about 1927. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1939.
    Leonard was married to Emily Horak on September 11, 1940, and they celebrated 70 + years of marriage. She survives at their home at the manor. Leonard and Emily farmed in the Rossville area until 1946, when they moved to Delia, where they farmed. He also was a school bus driver for many years and had worked as a security guard at the Jeffrey Energy Center. He was involved in and was member of the Delia Presbyterian Church. Leonard was a 60 + year member of Delia Masonic Lodge No. 419 and also the former Delia Lions Club. He served many years on the Delia Water District Board and the Delia Cemetery Board. Leonard served one term as a Jackson County Commissioner from the third district. He received the Kansas Bankers Soil Conservation award in 1971.
    Other survivors include his two children, Jim (Janet) Dodge, Rossville, and Joanne (Mike) Bruce, Huntsville, TX; five grandchildren, David (Colleen) Dodge, Topeka, Karen (Jerry) Manhart, Shawnee, Michael Bruce, Huntsville, Kevin (April) Bruce, Houston, and Stephanie Bruce, Fayetteville, NC; nine great-grandchildren, Casey, Darrin and Danielle Dodge, Abbie and Chad Manhart, Maddison, Regan, Damian and Malcolm Bruce.
    Mr. Dodge was preceded in death by his parents and a great- grandson.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment with Masonic graveside service conducted by Delia Lodge No. 419 will be in the Delia Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Tuesday morning. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Delia Masonic Lodge No. 419, the Delia Presbyterian Church or the Rossville Senior Center and sent in care of the funeral home.     LEONARD DODGE

    Dodge to celebrate 90th birthday

    In observance of his 90th birthday, Leonard Dodge, will be the honored guest at an open house on Sunday, April 27, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Rossville Senior Center, 425 Pearl Street.

    This event will be hosted by his children and grandchildren.
