    Merlin Douglas
    Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church for Merlin M. Douglas, 65, 1141 Medford, who died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 15.
    He owned and operated the Douglas Construction Company in Topeka and formerly was a vice president and member of the board of directors of Capital Iron Works.
    He was born Sept. 10, 1909, in Topeka and spent most of his life in Topeka. He attended Topeka public schools and was graduated from Topeka High School. He attended the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas.
    Mr. Douglas was associated with Capital Iron Works from 1934 to 1946 when he helped establish the Douglas Construction Co. The firm built homes, public buildings, schools, power plants and roads.
    Mr. Douglas was a member of Faith Lutheran church and the choir at the church.
    He was a member of the board of directors of National Associated General Contractors and had served in 1959 as president of Kansas Associated General Contractors. He had served 12 years as president of the Topeka Chapter of Associated General Contractors. He served on the board of directors of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce in 1956.
    He was married to Bernice Stach April 12, 1930, in Topeka. She survives.
    Other survivors include a son, Robert G. Douglas, 527 Danbury Lane; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Friend, Berkeley, Calif.; a brother William H. Douglas, 1712 Mission; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Tomson 4712 W. 6th, Mrs. Elizabeth Parrott, Palo Alto, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
    Burial will be in Mount hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
