    Mary Elizabeth Cassity Fairchild, 43, Rossville, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness.
    Mrs. Fairchild worked for the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services as a CS21 in accounts payable and receivable for 12 years until her death.
    She was born October 9, 1958, in Honolulu, Oahu, HI, the daughter of Robert Laurence and Sarah “Sally” Louise Shea Cassity. She attended schools in Wamego and graduated from Wamego High School. She later graduated from vocational and technical school in Manhattan.
    She married Robert L. Fairchild in 1978 in Manhattan. He died in December 1987.
    Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Sally and Sam McGowan, Wamego; two sons, Wyatt L. Fairchild, Manhattan, and Joshua J. Johnson, of the home; three brothers, Paul D. Cassity, Hartford, John C. Cassity, Alma, and James W. Cassity, Lake Villa, IL; and a granddaughter.
    Her service was at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. Burial was in Wamego City Cemetery. Family met with friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
    The family suggests memorial contributions to the Battered Women’s Shelter Foundation and sent in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
