    Obituary- Fawl, Carl
    CARL FAWL
Carl Fawl, 39, farmer living on the Pottawatomie reservation, near the site of the old agency buildings, died last Friday morning from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. He was found on the floor of his bedroom with a hole near his heart and a .410-gauge shotgun within reach. Indications pointed to suicide and an inquest was thought unnecessary.
Mr. Fawl was a widower and lived on his farm with a 17-year-old son and a daughter. His father was ill in Christ’s hospital and survived him only five days.
The family was out of the house at the time the shot was fired. Rushing in, the son found his father lying on the floor with the gun near at hand. He was only partially clad. Although unconscious, he lived two hours.
It is supposed Mr. Fawl was despondent and discouraged. He had a good reputation in the community.
Sheriff Jepson, County Attorney Hobbs, Deputy Coroner Phillips and Undertaker McAsey from Holton, drove to the farm and investigated the circumstances of the shooting.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 o’clock at the Rossville M. E. church, conducted by the Rev. F. N. Judd, pastor of the Silver Lake Methodist church.
Carl Charles Fawl was the eldest son of Ida and Andrew Pawl. He was born in April, 1892.He grew to young manhood in the Prairie Vale neighborhood. On March 18, 1914, he was united in marriage to Lottie Page and to this union were born two children. His wife and mother have preceded him in death.
Surviving him are a brother, Geo. E. Fawl, Rossville; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Zimmerman, Akron, Ohio; a son, Harold Fawl, and daughter, Elwis of the home address.
Burial was in the Rossville cemetery, where the burial rites were in charge of Hesperian Lodge, A. F. & A. M., of Rossville.
