 | Obituary- Gillgannon, I.M. 1 I.M. “Mike” Gillgannon
I.M. “Mike” Gillgannon, 83, Topeka, died Thursday, December 31, 1992, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Gillgannon first was a farmer. He later was a labor market analyst for the Employment Security Division of the State of Kansas and was a tax appraiser for the state when he retired in 1971. After he retired, he received his real estate and broker’s license and was a self-employed real estate broker for his company, the Homeland Agency, until 1975.
He was born August 30, 1909, at Delia, the son of Patrick Joseph and Nora Hanrahan Gillgannon. He attended St. Mary’s College at St. Marys, Creighton University at Omaha, Nebr., and Washburn University in Topeka Mr. Gillgannon was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and a former member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 534, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles aerie. He also was a founding father of the St. Patrick’s Day Club and a former officer of the club.
He was married to Grace M. Hanrahan October 14, 1935, in St. James Catholic Cathedral in Kansas City, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Beverly Pruitt and Connie Jo Drosten, both of Camarillo, Calif., and Mary Kay Kuberski, Park Forest, Ill.; three sons, Jerome Patrick Gillgannon and Patrick Michael Gillgannon, both of Topeka, and Thomas Joseph Gillgannon, Denver; a sister, Monica Moylan, Emmett; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. Rosaries were recited at Brennan Funeral Home Sunday at 5 p.m. by Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle No. 503, and the parish at 6:30 p.m.
