    Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Gresser

    Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Gresser will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on October 28. They were married in Topeka where Mr. Gresser worked in a bank, and moved to Rossville in 1909. They will be honored at an Open House Sunday afternoon, October 27, from 2 to 5 pm at the Joe Gresser home in Rossville. Their sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Don Gresser of Topeka and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gresser, will host the friends who will call to extend congratulations. No formal invitations have been sent but everyone is invited.

    Rossville-Topeka Banker, Clarence E. Gresser, Dies

    Clarence Ernest Gresser, 80, longtime banker in Topeka and Rossville, died Wednesday night in a Topeka nursing home.

    The son of Fredrick and Christine Gresser, he was born March 11, 1883, at Atkinson, Ill. At the age of 16 he came to Kansas and began working in the old Citizens State Bank in North Topeka, where his brother, Ed Gresser, was cashier.

    Clarence E. Gresser spent a few years at the Central National Bank in Topeka and in 1909 organized the People’s State Bank at Rossville. He remained with the Rossville bank until he retired as president about five years ago.

    He served two terms as mayor of Rossville and several terms on the city council, grade school board and high school board.

    He was Sunday school superintendent of the Rossville Methodist Church 17 years and church treasurer many years. He was past master of the Rossville Masonic Lodge.

    He and Leonore Miller, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. K. Miller of Topeka, were married in 1907.

    Survivors include his widow; two sons, Joe M. Gresser of Rossville, and Don F. Gresser, 1534 W. 17th; five granddaughters; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Rollin Gresser of Brady, Tex.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Methodist Church at Rossville with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. The Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

    Founder of Peoples State Bank Dies At Age 80
    Services for Clarence Ernest Gresser, 80, former Topeka banker and founder of the Peoples State Bank at Rossville, were at 10 a. m. Saturday in the Rossville Methodist Church. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

    He died Wednesday night in a Topeka nursing home where he had lived for several months.

    He was born March 11, 1883, at Atkinson, Ill. He came to Kansas at the age of 16 and began working in the old Citizens State Bank of North Topeka, where his brother, The late Ed Gresser, was cashier. He also worked several years at the former Central National Bank of Topeka.

    C.E. Gresser organized the bank at Rossville in l909. He retired as president about five years ago.

    His wife, the former Leonore Miller, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. K. Miller of Topeka, survives. Among other survivors are two sons, Joe M. Gresser, Rossville, and Don F. Gresser, Topeka; a brother, Rollin Gresser, Brady, Texas; six grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

    Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Marvin Davis, Everett Pelfrey, Rolland Parr, Harold Reser, Homer Reid, and Junior Dannefer.

    In the Matter of the Estate of C. E. GRESSER, a/k/a CLARENCE E. GRESSER, Deceased No.
    NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTOR
    To the Creditors, Heirs, Devisees and Legatees of C. E. Gresser, a/k/a Clar ence E. Gresser, Deceased, and all others concerned:
    You and each of you will take notice that on the 23rd day of August, 1963, Joe M. Gresser was appointed executor of the Will of C. E. Gresser, deceased, and duly qualified as such executor and Letters Testamentary were issued to him on August 23, 1963, by the Probate Court of Shawnee County, Kansas.
    All parties interested in said estate will take notice and govern themselves accordingly. All creditors are notified to exhibit their demands against the said estate within nine months from the date of the first publication of this notice as provided bylaw, and if their demands are not thus exhibited they shall be forever barred.
