Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church for Frederick W. “Fred” Foster, 27, 5529 W. 13th, who died shortly after arrival at a Topeka hospital late Saturday.
Jackson County authorities said he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest in an accident following a hunting jaunt with two friends in a rural area about three miles north of Delia. The three men had been hunting and Foster was shot when a weapon discharged as it was being placed in a gun rack inside a pickup truck.
Fred Foster was born Dec. 10, 1949, in Topeka and spent his early life in the Salina community. He returned to Topeka about three years ago.
He was assistant manager of the service department at the Loll McKernan Lincoln-Mercury agency. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.
He was married to the former Susan Hulett. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Cassie Foster, Marceline, Mo.; a son, Charles Anthony Foster, Marceline, Mo.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.Q. Foster, Salina; and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Holgerson, Colorado City, Colo., and Mrs. Denise Lovett, Salina.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home.
