    Everett A. Freeby
    Everett Arthur Freeby, 86, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at the Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
    He was born August 26,1910, in Blue Rapids, the son of Cyrus E. and Barbara Waldheim Freeby.
    Mr. Freeby worked for the Kansas State Arsenal until he retired in 1977. He was active in the U.S. Army from October 26, 1940, to June 7, 1945. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Aleutian Islands as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post # 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
    On May 31, 1936, he was married to Mary M. Jacobia on May 31,1936, at Sabetha. She survives.
    Other survivors include a son, Everett “Butch” Freeby, Ozawkie; three daughters, Beverly Gentry, Rossville, Dianna Berry and Debbie Turner, Topeka; a brother, Chester Freeby, Hurst, Tex.; two sisters, Doris Bolton, Downey, Calif., and Maxine Wertz, Sedalia, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred Freeby and Floyd Freeby; and three sisters, Florence Christenson, Edna Shannon and Melinda Blaser.
    The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. His funeral service was at 11:00 Saturday at the mortuary; interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
    Memorial contributions are suggested to Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion, Rossville 66533.

    Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Freeby will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Jimmy Lillard Post NO. 31 of the American Legion, Rossville, 66533.
