Funeral services for Billy B. Freel, who died in the service of his country May 7, 1945, were held today at 2:00 p.m. from the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary in Topeka. Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.
Freel, who was 21 years of age at the time of his death, was killed following the invasion of Okinawa. He entered the service July 1, 1942.
He was born in Buffalo, Kansas, May 4, 1924, and moved with his parents to Topeka when he was two years of age. He attended State St. grade school, the Crane Junior High School and Topeka High School.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Freel of 429 Grattan; three brothers, James R. Freel, Jr., Glen Dale Freel and Larry Freel, and one sister, Janice Freel, all of the home; his grandfather, Albert L. Bixby of Rossville; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
