    Charles ‘Tony’ Dean
    SILVER LAKE — Charles William "Tony” Dean, 84, Silver Lake, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at home.
    He was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Rossville, to Joseph and Alma Mitchell Dean. He was graduated from Rossville High School and worked for Santa Fe Railway. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a rural letter carrier out of the Silver Lake Post Office 41 years before he re¬tired. He spent most of his life in the Rossville and Silver Lake communities.
    He was a member of Lake Lodge No.
    50, AF&AM, and Silver Lake Post No. 160 , of the American Legion, both in Silver Lake, Goodyear Post No. 2187 of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Topeka, and the National Rural Letter Carriers Associa¬tion. He was a member of the Citizen Band Potawatomi Tribe of Oklahoma.
    He was married to Dorothy “Maxine” Olson Aug. 31, 1940. She died Feb. 8, 1970. He was married to Margaret I. Oleson Dec. 27, 1975, in Meriden. She survives. A son died in infancy.
    Other survivors include a son, Larry Dean, Silver Lake; a daughter, Carla Smith, Longford; stepdaughters, Sandra Williams, Hampton, Va., Joyce Hilger, Ozawkie, and Nancy Oleson, Topeka; four grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, will conduct grave¬side services at Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Dean will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.

    Charles W. “Tony” Dean
    Charles William “Tony” Dean, 84, Silver Lake, died Saturday, August 1, 1998, at his home.
    He was born December 3, 1913, in Rossville, the son of Jo-seph and Alma Mitchell Dean, and had lived in the Rossville and Silver Lake communities ail of his life.
    He was graduated from Ross¬ville High School. Prior to World War II, he worked for die Santa Fe Railroad. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Dean was a rural letter carrier out of the Silver Lake Post Office for 41 years before he retired. He was a member of Lake Lodge #50, AF&AM, of Silver Lake; Good¬year Post #2187, Veterans of For¬eign Wars; Silver Lake American Legion Post #160; and the Nation¬al Rural Letter Carriers’ Associa¬tion. He was a member of the Cit¬izen Band Potawatomi Tribe of Oklahoma.
    On August 3, 1940, he was married to Dorothy “Maxine” Ol¬son, who died February 8, 1970. He married Margaret I. Oleson December 27, 1975, at Meriden. She survives.
    Mr. Dean was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Larry Dean, Silver Lake; one daughter, Carla Smith, Longford; three stepdaugh¬ters, Sandra Williams, Hampton, Va., Joyce Hilger, Ozawkie, and Nancy Oleson, Topeka; four grand¬children; three great-grandchil¬dren; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
    The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. His service was at 10:00 (this morning) at the funeral home. Lake Lodge #50, AF&AM, conducted a Masonic graveside service in the Rossville Cemetery.
