    Earnest Hards
    Earnest W. Hards, 79, Sabetha, died Monday in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient since June 9. He had been ill about a year.

    He was born March 24, 1899, at Platte City, Mo., and spent his early life at Mayetta and Holton where he attended schools. He lived at Hiawatha before he moved to Sabetha about 25 years ago. He served in the Marines from July 17, 1918, until March 12, 1919.

    Mr. Hards had been a farmer and later worked tor Union Pacific Railroad 19 years before he retired in 1964. He was a member of Post No. 126 of the American Legion at Sabetha.

    He was married to Mrs. Grace Snider May 4, 1963, at Seneca. She survives.

    Other survivors include a stepson, Guy Allen, Seattle, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Juanita Mounsey, Seattle, Wash.; five brothers, Harvey Hards, Falls City, Neb., Chester Hards, Louisville, Leo Hards, Topeka, Raymond Hards, Holton, and Charles Hards. Richmond, Calif.; and four sisters, Mrs. Esther Mansfield, Rossville, Mrs. Mary Darting, Paradise, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Haymand, Fort Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Elsie Reed, Fargo, N. D.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dorr Funeral Home at Falls City, Neb. Burial will be in Sabetha Cemetery. Mr. Hards will lie in state at the funeral home until time of services.
