She was born August 6, 1895, near Delia, the daughter of L. T. and Annie Stalker Houck. She had been a Topeka resident since 1925. She attended Central United Presbyterian Church and was a member of a local card club more than 50 years. She was married March 27, 1917, to A. D. Hargis at Lawrence. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Bernard M. “Bud” Hargis, Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Esther McCorkill, Rossville; a brother, Howard E. Houck, Rossville: four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial was in Delia Cemetery, Delia. Memorial contributions may be mat to the American Cancer Society, 30 Van Buren, Topeka, 66611.
