    Mrs. Viola May Hartzell
    Mrs. Viola May Hartzell, 88, Topeka, died Monday, March 6, 1989, at her daughter’s home in Wichita.
    She was born Sept. 7, 1900, near Hoyt.
    She became active in the Foster Grandparent Program at Kansas Neurological Institute on April 15, 1974, and was active until recently. She and her husband had been foster grandparents to 35 children in their home.
    Mrs. Hartzell was a member of Helena Chapter No. 210 of Order of Eastern Star, Social Order of Beauceant, and Royal Neighbors of America.
    She was married to Orville B. Hartzell March 31, 1921, in Topeka. He died Aug. 31, 1965. A son, Donald W. Hartzell, died May 25, 1985.
    Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Cain, Wichita; four grand¬children and seven great-grandchild¬ren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thurs¬day at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Hartzell will lie in state from 3 p.m. today until noon Thursday at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed during services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wichita, 1831 Woodrow, Wichita, 67203.
