    Obituary- Hejtmanek, Anna 1
    Obituary- Hejtmanek, Anna 1
Those who knew her best will probably always think of flowers when they think of her. She always had her "little bit of Czechoslovakia" her flower garden, wherever she lived, this she carefully and lovingly tended and watered no matter how busy or tired she was. When it was exceptionally beautiful she would say, "It is just like my mother's garden." Fifty years ago she with her family moved to a farm where the house was built on a rocky knoll. Even the weed would not grow but she had to have a flower garden. Many loads of rich soil from the woods, mixed with leaf mold were hauled around the house. This was hauled a distance of two miles. She had her flowers and the garden was a rural eight not soon forgotten by those who saw it. Even during the past year though she was growing feeble, she never forgot to water her flowers when the rain delayed in coming.

Mrs. Hejtmanek was a member of the Presbyterian church, a truly model Christian mother who was loved best by those who knew her best.

Funeral services were held in Delia Presbyterian church, Rev. N. P. Olney in charge. The sotgservice was rendered by a church quartette composed of Anthony Zlatnik, Sievers Thompson, Mrs. Alfred Bowers and Mrs. Joseph Zlatnik, accompanied by Miss Rosella Zlatnik. Pallbearers were Roy Miller, Joseph Zlatnik, Paul Kovar, Asa A. Murren, S. R. Vacek and John Kolbeck. Burial was in the Czech Moravian cemetery, Saturday Oct. 10.

    OBITUARY
MRS. ANNA HEJTMAMEK, PIONEER MOTHER, is DEAD
Mrs. Anna Hejtmanek, who settled on Cross Creek two-thirds of a century ago, died Oct. 7 at the home of her son, George, east of Delia, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Anna Ondra, daughter of Joseph and Anna Ondra, was born at Vizovice, Czechoslovakia, Oct. 16, 1857. In 1876 she was united in marriage to George Hejtmanek of Vizovice, Czechoslovakia and to this union eight children were born. Her husband, three sons, Joseph Edward, Lewis and Charles, and three daughters, Mary, Marie and Anna (Mrs. Wm. Kovar) preceded her in death.
Her husband died Jan. 6, 1925. Surviving are two sons: George and Frank,
both of Delia; 9 grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, and a host of friends. Her only brother was living in Czechoslovakia when the present war began. Since then he has not been heard from.

In 1860 she with her husband and one child, George, who then was ten months old came to America, direct to the Cross Creek region which now is Delia. There she lived the remaining 62 1/2 years of her life. In spite of the many hardships and sorrows which they had to bear she often times remarked, "Vie were very happy here, for God always gave us such good neighbors."
While nearly all of her generation have passed to their reward, Mrs. Hejtmanek had many callers to the end of her days. Many of these were the children and grandchildren of her old neighbors, but she was always making new friends. She enjoyed all their visits and was always interested in their lives.
