Garnett “Bud” Hladky, 83, Emmett, died Wednesday, December 22, 1999, at the St. Marys Manor.
He was born July 13, 1916, in rural St. Clere, the son of Edward E. and Albina Josphene Macha Hladky.
Bud grew up in the St. Clere community and had lived in the St. Clere and Emmett communities all of his life. He was a farmer and had worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka for 25 years before retiring. He and his wife ran restaurants in Delia and Emmett and he had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several years. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers.
He married Margaret E. Wells August 18, 1938; she died September 28,1998. He was also preced¬ed in death by a daughter, Judy Hladky, and a son, Joyce Hladky.
Surviving him are two daughters, Joy L. Bostlemann, Emmett, and Joan E. Henneke, Rossville; two sons, James Hladky, Abilene, and Johnny Hladky, Emmett; two sisters, Inez DeVader, Holton, and Bernice Morgen, Fort Agnes; a brother, Erman E. Hladky, address unknown; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
His service was at 10 a.m. Mon¬day at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home; interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, south of Belvue.
A family visitation was held from 6:30 until 8:00 Sunday evening at the funeral home.

EMMETT — Garnett “Bud" Hladky, 83, Emmett, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mr. Hladky farmed in the St. Clere and Emmett areas, and he worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Topeka for 25 years. He and his wife also operated restaurants in Delia and Emmett, and he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several years.
He was born July 13,1916, near St. Clere, the son of Edward E. and Albina Josephine Macha Hladky. He was raised in the St. Clere community.
Mr. Hladky was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union.
He married Margaret E. Wells on Aug. 18, 1938. She died Sept. 28, 1998. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Hladky, and a son, Joyce Hladky.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy L. Bostlemann, Emmett, and Joan E. Henneke, Rossville; two sons, James Hladky, Abilene, and Johnny Hladky, Emmett; two sisteis, Inez DeVader, Holton, and Beinice Morgen, Fort Agnes; a brother, Erman E. Hladky, address unavailable; 13 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery south of Belvue. Mr Hladky will lie in stale after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
