    Howard H. Hobrock
    Howard H. Hobrock, 84, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011. Howard was born November 12, 1926, in Princeton, Kansas, son of Fred and Minnie (Krusa) Hobrock. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1943 and the University of Kansas in 1949, with a Civil Engineering degree. Howard served as a Captain in the US Navy from 1944 - 1978. Howard was united in marriage to Laura Lee Farley on November 7, 1954, in Topeka. He worked as an Engineer for 56 years at Finney & Turnipseed. Howard was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and served as the church treasurer for 20 years. He was also involved in the Kiwanis, where he was a past president of the Southwest Kiwanis and current member of the Downtown Kiwanis; American Legion; Military Officers Association of America; Reserve Officers Association; Military Order of the World Wars; Fellow & Lifetime Member of American Society of Civil Engineers; and served as Commissioner of Boy Scouts of America. Howard is survived by his wife Laura, Topeka; a son, Brian (Susan) Hobrock, St. Francis; a daughter, Marta (Brian) Howard, Delia; grandchildren, Jacob (Miranda) Russell, Joshua Russell, Chance Flobrock, Brooks Hobrock, Lane Hobrock, and Samantha Howard; a great grandchild, Carter Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lena Davis and Ann Coughlin, a brother, Irwin Hobrock, and a granddaughter, Amanda Howard. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Hobrock will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66603, or Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
