A surprise reception, hosted by members of the Rossville United Methodist Church, followed the regular morning worship service. Dwight Hoobler and Margie Jean Lillard were married January 12, 1947, at the Rossville Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hoobler have been life-long residents of the Rossville area, except for the three years Dwight served in the U.S. Army during World War 2. Special guests attending the reception were seven members of the 1945 graduating class of Rossville High School and many relatives of the couple, including Margie’s sister, Mrs. Thelma Short, St. Marys, who was a bridesmaid at the wedding. Dwight and Margie are the parents of two sons, David and Don.

• Documents		Obituary- Hoobler, Dwight 1 Dwight Hoobler ROSSVILLE — Dwight Rolland Hoobler, 79, Rossville, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at a Rossville nursing home. Mr. Hoobler worked many years for the Kansas Power and Light Co. and later for Topeka’s water pollution control division. He served in the Army's 6th Division 63rd Infantry for three years, including 27 months in the South Pacific. He was decorated with a Bronze Star from New Guinea and a Purple Heart from wounds he suffered in the Philippines. He was born Oct. 26, 1921, at Madison, the son of Vern P. and Mary Myrtle Rake Hoobler. He graduated from St. Marys High School. Mr. Hoobler was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville, a 50-year member of Lake Lodge No. 51 at Silver Lake, Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of Eastern Star in Silver Lake, and Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Topeka. He married Margie Lillard on Jan. 12,1 947, in Rossville. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, David Hoobler, address unavailable, and Don Hoobler, Pittsburg; a sister, Mildred Ronsse, St. Marys; four brothers, Lloyd Hoobler and Everett Hoobler, both of St. Marys, Forrest Hoobler, Topeka, and Lester “Arland" Hoobler, Seattle; and a granddaughter. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial with graveside military honors conducted by Post No. 31 of the American Legion will be at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Hoobler will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the church, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church and sent in care of Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville.
