    Golden Wedding Celebration Set

    Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hoobler of Maple Hill will observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary with open house Sunday, June 9, at the Methodist Church Hall, St. Marys.

    No invitations are being issued, but friends and relatives are asked to call at the hall between 3 and 5 p.m. The couple request no gifts. A family dinner will be served at noon at the church for the immediate family.

    Mr. and Mrs. Hoobier were married June 4, 1913 at Topeka. They have nine children, 8 sons and one daughter and 29 grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Hoobler have lived in the Turkey Creek community in Wabaunsee county most of their lives with the exception of living in Rossville from 1944 to 1949.

    Mrs. Mary Hoobler
    St. Marys- Mrs. Mary Myrtle Hoobler, 78, died Sunday at her home here.

    She was born Dec. 30, 1892, in the Stull community in Douglas County, and spent most of her life in the Rossville, St. Marys, and Maple Hill communities. She was a member Rossville Christian Church and the Farmers’ Wives Club.

    She was married to Vern Hoobler June 14, 1913, in Topeka. He survives.

    Other survivors include eight sons, Harold Hoobler, Maple Hill, Lloyd Hoobler and Everett Hoobler, both of St. Marys, Raymond Hoobler, Fort Wayne, Ind., Dwight Hoobler, Rossville, Albert Hoobler, Wamego, Forrest Hoobler, Route 7, Topeka and Arlan Hoobler, Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Ronsse, St. Marys; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Evans, Yakima, Wash.; a half-sister, Mrs. Lucille Kampschroeder, 1017 Strait, Topeka; two half- brothers, Roy Rake, Colorado, and Eddie Ray Rake, California; 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rossville Christian Church. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys. Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Christian Church.
