  Obituary- Hook, Guilford Guilford W. Hook Guilford W. Hook, 88, Silver Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1988, in a Topeka hospital. Mr. Hook farmed in the Silver Lake area all his life before retiring in 1965. He was born Aug. 7, 1900, in Silver Lake, the son of Benjamin M. and Emma Bartlett Hook. He attended Silver Lake schools and Strickler’s Business College in, Topeka. Mr. Hook was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist church and the Moose Lodge No. 555 in Topeka. He was married to Helen L. Leep on Sept. 20, 1923, in Topeka. She died Nov. 29, 1981. Survivors include two brothers, Maynard C. Hook, Topeka, and Howard D. Hook, Silver Lake; two sisters, Vera I. Howell and Norma L. Wood, both of Topeka; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel with burial in Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Silver Lake, 66539.
