    Obituary- Hopkins, Bertha d.1913
Bertha Orwan was born Dec. 21, 1875 in Newbloomfield, Perry county, Pennsylvania, and departed this world Sept. 24, 1913. Her parents died while she was only a few years old and she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. George Stumbaugh and removed to Kansas in 1883 at the age of eight. On Jan. 16, 1895 she was united in marriage to Ira Hopkins. To this union eight children were born two of whom died while infants. Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins united with the Methodist church in 1891.

Mrs. Hopkins was an ideal mother whose whole thought was for her family. She was loved by all her neighbors for her kindly and sunny disposition. Her loss will be felt most keenly by the whole community. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Friday, Sept. 26 conducted by the Rev. J.K. Miller. Interment was made in the Rossville cemetery.
