    Mr. and Mrs. Ignac Horak celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, November 9th, at their home in Delia. Mr. and Mrs. Horak observed the occasion quietly with close relation and friends from the surrounding area.

    Delia couple observes 50th anniversary
    Mr. and Mrs. Ignac Horak of Delia quietly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at their home. Only close relation and friends joined them for the occasion.

    Ignac Horak was married to Veronica Hejtmanek on November 8, 1908, in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. Mr. Horak came to the United States in May, 1912, and Mrs. Horak and their two children followed six months later in November.

    They are parents of eight children including one set of twins, Mrs. Rose Davis, Bakerfield, California; Rudy Horak, Taft, California; Albert Horak, Grover City, California; Irene Collett, Camas, Washington; Eddie Horak, Trip City, Ohio; Bennie Horak and Emily Dodge of Delia; and Esther Wehner of Rossville. There are 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

    Mr. Horak worked on the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and is now retired. He is at present janitor for the Delia Grade School.

    LEWISBURG, Ohio — Funeral services for Edward J. Horack, 79, were Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Barnes Funeral Home in Lewisburg, Ohio. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg.

    Mr. Horack, of Eaton-Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, at a Nashville, Tenn., hospital.

    He retired from McCall’s after 37 years of service and had served in the Army during World War ll.

    Mr. Horack was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Delia, Kan., the son of Ignatius and Veronica Hejtmanek Horack.

    He was a member of Lewisburg Church of God for 26 years, where he was Sunday school superintendent.

    He married Lula K. Brewer Horack. She preceded him in death in 1989.

    Mr. Horack is survived by a son, Kenneth E. Horack, Antioch, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Velma J. Pitts and Jeraldine Hutchinson, both of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Al Horack, Oakhurst, Calif., and Bennie Horack of Delia, Kan.; three sisters, Emily Dodge, Delia, Irene Collett, Camas, Wash., and Esther Wehner, Rossville, Kan.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

    Edward J. Horack, 79, Lewisburg, OH, died Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville, TN, where he recently moved.

    He was born September 24, 1920, in Delia, the son of Ignatius and Veronica Hejtmanek Horak, who came to America from Czechoslovakia.

    He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from McCall’s in Dayton, OH after 37 years of service. He was a faithful member of Lewisburg Church of God for 26 years, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent. He held many offices and duties in the church.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula K. Brewer Horack, in 1989; one sister, Rose Horak Davis; and one brother, Rudy Horack.

    Surviving him are a son, Kenneth Horack, Antioch, TX; two stepdaughters, Velma J. Pitts and Jeraldine Hutchison, both of Dayton, OH; two brothers, A1 Horack, Oakhurst, CA, and Edward’s twin, Bennie Horak, Delia; three sisters, Irene Collett, Camas, WA, Emily Dodge, Delia, and Esther Wehner, Rossville; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    His funeral service was Saturday at Barnes Funeral Home, Lewisburg, OH. Interment was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg, OH.
