    Donald LeRoy Akin
    Donald LeRoy Akin, 59, Silver Lake, died Wed., Aug. 11, 2010 as a result of injuries from an accident.
    Don was born July 8, 1951 in Axtell KS, the son of Elmer and Pauline Maddocks Akin. He was a graduate of Rossville High School, NE Kansas Technical College, Beloit KS and served our country in the US Navy Seabees. On July 28, 1972, Don and Mary "Jane” Aubert were united in marriage in St. Marys KS. They enjoyed 38 years together.
    Survivors include his wife, Jane, of the home; daughters, Nikki Markham (Chris), Emporia, Tonya Olson (Kevin), Post Falls ID, and Jacinta Akin, of the home; sister, Marlene Aubert (Clyde), St. Marys; brothers, John Akin (Susan), Topeka and Steven W. Akin (Bernie), St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre¬ceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Michael Akin.
    Don worked for Frito Lay, was owner/operator of D&A Transport and most recently was employed by Shawnee County. Don was a member of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.

    Don will lie in state from 2 to 7 p.m. Sun., Aug. 15th at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka KS 66614, where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. At 7 p.m. there will be a Knights of Columbus Chalice Ceremony followed by a rosary. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will then be prayed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Mon., Aug. 16th, at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church, 2014 NW 46th St. Topeka. Cremation will follow.
