Betsy C. Hurley, 86, of Rossville, Kansas passed away on Monday, November 27,2006 at the Rossville Health Care Center. She was born March 26,1920 at Kingman, Kansas the daughter of Frank B. and Winifred E. Stearns Ross.
She was raised at Kingman and graduated from Kingman High School in 1938. She worked with her husband as an assistant funeral director for 17 years at funeral homes in Harveyville, Rossville and Galena.
She was married to John H. Hurley at Kingman on Feb. 11, 1939. John preceded her in death on May 29, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her son Roger in 2003; her infant daughter in 1939, Janice A. and a grandson, Douglas Hudson in 1990.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Hudson of Rossville and Denise Hurley of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandsons, Gregory Hudson of Rossville and John Miller of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Nona Droegemeier of Rossville and Phyllis Kostner of Murdock, Kansas Two nieces, two nephews and one great-niece also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Davidson Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Interment will follow in the Rossville Cemetery. She will lie in state from 1-9 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Health Care & Rehabilitation Center or to Rossville Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
