    Another Old Settler at Rest
Lambert James passed away last Friday afternoon about four o'clock after an illness of about two weeks. The news came as a great surprise. Mr. James had been suffering from pneumonia but had been holding his own fairly well, and many of his friends did not know that he was in any danger.

He was one of the early day settlers of Rossville township and Shawnee county, having resided here since 1867 on the homestead where he settled after being mustered out of the Union army.

Mr. James had only recently held a public sale of his stock and had his farm on the market for sale, planning to move to Gueda Springs, Ks., to live near two daughters. He had spent much time there in years past always with beneficial results.
