| Obituary- Janke, Nellie Nellie M. Janke
JUNCTION CITY — Nellie Margaret Janke, 97, Junction City, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997, at a nursing home here.
She was born Nov. 2,1899, in Rossville, the daughter of Robert and Arvilla Dailey Sebring, and attended school in Rossville. She received a teaching certificate at Emporia State Teachers College and taught in Rossville and later in Geary County schools.
She was a member of Lyona United Methodist Church south of Junction City and United Methodist Women.
She was married to Harvey B. Janke Aug. 16, 1921, in Rossville. They lived in the Lyona community south of Junction City many years. He died Oct. 7, 1972. A daughter, Marjorie Janke, and two sons, David Janke and James Janke, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Janke and Shirley Janke, both in rural Junction City; a daughter, Bonnie Anderson, Atlanta, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in the Lyona community south of Junction City. Burial will be in Lyona Cemetery south of Junction City.
The casket will remain closed. Visitation will begin at noon today at Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman.
Contributions may be made to the Nellie Margaret Janke Memorial Fund yet to be designated and sent in care of the funeral home.
