| Obituary- Johnson, Clara CLARA N. JOHNSON
Mrs. Clara N. Johnson, 67, of Route 6, North Topeka, struck by a hit-and-run driver last Thursday night, west of the Boys’ Industrial school, died Monday morning in St. Francis hospital from internal injuries. Officers have been unable to find any clues which may lead to the arrest of the driver.
Mrs. Johnson was born May 9th, 1870, in Jackson county and had been a resident of Kansas her entire life. She had made her home on her present farm 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Arch Johnson; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Steele, Topeka, and Mrs. Joe Birnbaumer. Route 6, Topeka; her mother, Mrs. Samuel McCleery, Route 6; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Nightwine, Route 6, and three brothers, Frank McCleery, St. Marys; James McCleery, Kansas City Kansas, Walter McCleery. Rossville, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Peebler’s funeral home. Burial was in Rochester cemetery.
