    ANNA MELISSA BARTLETT
    Mrs. Anna Melissa Bartlett passed away Saturday evening, January 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. M. Hook of Silver Lake.

    Mrs. Bartlett was widely known in the Rossville community having lived here several years before moving to Silver Lake.

    She was born in Franklin county, Ohio, March 30, 1849, and on the date of her death was 79 years, 9 months and 19 days old. She was married to Henry Bartlett October 8, 1871. To this union three children were born, Clara, George and Emma. Clara and George died in infancy.

    They moved to Burdette, Kansas, in 1884, where Mr. Bartlett died two years later. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Bartlett removed to Rossville where she resided until 1898, when she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. B. M. Hook of Silver Lake.

    She was a member of the Rossville Methodist church.

    Beside her daughter, Mrs. Emma Hook, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Mrs. Dewey Wood, of Topeka; Mrs. George Howell, Nina, Norma, Guilford, Benjamin, Maynard and Howard Hook all of the home address.

    Funeral services were held at the Penwell chapel in Topeka, Monday afternoon, January 21, at 2 o’clock, Rev. J. W. Reed of Leavenworth, conducted the services. Burial was in the Rochester cemetery.
