Bud Johnsons Honored on Golden Wedding Anniversary

Friends and relatives from Kansas City, Wichita, Clay Center, Randolph, Louisville, St. Marys, Belvue, Wamego and other Kansas towns called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. “Bud” Johnson Sunday to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O. Hilton Johnson of Topeka, and their grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Loren D. Johnson of Warrenton, Va., were in charge of the arrangements for the happy occasion. Approximately 140 friends and relatives signed the register despite the rather dark and rainy day.

Sunday evening a dinner was held for 42 of the relatives and close friends of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.

The Johnsons were married at Westmoreland, Kansas, on May 25, 1904, by Probate Judge J. B. Laughlin who was the grandfather of LaVerne Spears of Rossville. They made their home at Louisville, Kansas, until 1940 when they moved to Rossville. Mr. Johnson passed through Rossville many times during the years they lived, at Louisville in his job as huckster.
