| Obituary- Joy, Ronald Ronald Eugene Joy
Ronald Eugene Joy, 72, Topeka, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 1994, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Joy was a telephone installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 36 years before he retired in 1983. He also served on the school board for Rice Elementary School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He was born May 9, 1922, in Netawaka, the son of Robert Raymond and Ellen Rebecca Hertzler Joy.
Mr. Joy was a 40-year member of Second Presbyterian Church where lie served as an elder and a deacon. He later became a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, the American Legion, Independent Order of Foresters, several bowling leagues and he had served as a Cub Scout master and committeeman for the Boy Scouts of America.
He was married to Arnetta Gene Reavis on Nov. 26, 1948, in Leavenworth. She died June 19, 1987. He was married to Barbara Jean Farrell on Dec. 27, 1991. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Robert D. Joy, Port Hueneme, Calif.; three daughters, Linda C. Jackson, Houston, and Karen K. Hohmann and Donna S. Claspill, both of Topeka; a stepson, David W. Farrell, Topeka; three brothers, Sherman J. Joy, Portland, Ore., Milton W. Joy, Grand Junction, Colo., and George H. Joy, Topeka; two sisters, Mildred B. Morris, Topeka, and Goldie I. Tucker, Houston; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Joy-Franklin UBI Cemetery northwest of Rossville. Mr. Joy will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
