    H.A. KASSEBAUM DEAD
    H. A. Kassebaum died last Monday evening at the home of his son, Ben Kassebaum, in Pittsburg, Kansas. The remains were brought to Rossville last night and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian church today at 2:30 and interment made in the Rossville cemetery. Out of respect to the deceased who was a silent partner of the Rossville Clothing Co., all the business houses of Rossville closed at 2:30 until the funeral procession had left for the cemetery.

Mr. Kassebaum has been in poor health for many months and the end was not entirely unexpected by the family and the close friends who knew his condition. He was one of the early day settlers of this township and the funeral was largely attended by many old friends and acquaintances from many parts of the county.

Mr. Kassebaum is survived by his widow, and four sons, Gus of this township, Edward of Silver Lake township, Ben of Pittsburg, Kansas, and William of San Pedro, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. S. J. Oliver, of Mabton, Wash., and Miss Emma of Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Oliver, Miss Emma and Will were unable to attend the funeral.

The Reporter will print a fuller history of Mr. Kassebaum next week in the obituary notice.

Henry A. Kassebaum was born near Hanover Germany, Sept. 22, 1838 and died at the home of his son in Pittsburg Kansas, March 3, 1914. At the age of 7 years he came to America with his parents who located in Indiana. He was married March 6, 1861 to Mary L. Probst at Olean, Indiana, where he engaged in business for several years, later moving to Palestine in the same state.

He was the father of eight children two of whom preceded him to the better land. One daughter dying in infancy and the other, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, Jan. 24, 1907.

In June 1871 he came to Kansas locating on the farm north east of Rossville where he lived until 1892 when he bought the home in town where he had since resided. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church for 43 years, and it was partly due to his efforts that the present church was built. He was a charter member of the A. O. U. W. which order conducted the funeral services at the grave. He had been in poor health for the past two years and his death was not unexpected by his family and close friends. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, 6 children, one brother and one sister.

We wish to thank our friends and neighbors, also the members of the A. O. U. W. for their many acts of kindness and sympathy in the death of our husband and father. Also for the beautiful floral offerings.
