    Mrs. Nancy Heslet Dead
    Mrs. Nancy A. Heslet, 89, passed away Wednesday at the home of her son, Bert H. Heslet. She was born April 18, 1848 [sic 1849], at Fairfield, Iowa and had been a resident of Kansas 65 years. She was a member of the Methodist church.

    Mrs. Heslet had been in poor health for years, and confined to her home for several months.

    In addition to her son, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ada Folsom, of St. Marys and Mrs. Nora Wad [sic Ward], of Green River, Wyo.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church. Burial will be in the Rossville cemetery.

    Mrs. John Heslet
    Funeral services for Mrs. John Heslet who passed away Wednesday of last week at the home of her son, Bert Heslet, were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church. The Reverend Wright Horton, of Riley, a former Methodist pastor here, assisted by the Reverend Reed, local pastor, conducted the service. Music was furnished by Mrs. C.E. Gresser, Mrs. Margaret Witter, Miss Leona Griswold and Mrs. E.G. Griswold. Miss Edith Higginbotham accompanied at the piano. The pallbearers were Charles Vorhies, A.S. Parr, Martin Whearty, Joe Shenk, Frank Page and C.E. Gresser.

    Nancy Arminda Osborn was born at Fairfield, Iowa, Jefferson County, April 8th, 1849. She passed away August 4, 1937 at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 27 days. She was united in marriage to John L. [sic T] Heslet, Nov. 27, 1873 at Rossville. He preceded her in death December 22, 1920. To this union was born five children, two of whom died in infancy. Surviving are two daughters, and one son: Bert Heslet, Rossville; Mrs. S.E. Ward, Green River, Wyoming; Mrs. G.L. Folsom, St. Marys. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends. She was one of the oldest members of the Rossville Methodist church and had resided in and around Rossville for the past 65 years.

    Mrs. Ada Folsom of St. Marys came to Rossville Wednesday called by the death of her mother, Mrs. John Heslet.

    Rev. and Mrs. Wright Horton and daughters Evelyn and Carol Joy of Riley were in Rossville, Friday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. John Heslet. Rev. Horton officiated at the funeral. The Horton family were returning home from Lawrence, where they had gone to get their daughters after a visit with their grandparents.

    Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ward of Green River, Wyoming, arrived in Rossville Friday morning, called by the death of her mother, Mrs. John Heslet. They returned home Saturday evening.

    Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Vleck of Topeka were in Rossville, Friday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. John Heslet.

    Mrs. John Heslet passed her 84th birthday anniversary last Friday. She was remembered by friends and relatives who sent birthday greeting cards. Mrs. Heslet is slowly recovering from a fractured bone in her left wrist and other bruises received in a fall about ten days ago.

    Grandma Heslet who is making her home with her son, Bert and family will celebrate her 87th birthday anniversary, Wednesday April 8. Grandma enjoys fairly good health.
