| Obituary- Hesse, Frederick FREDERICK HESSE
Frederick Hesse died at his home in St. Marys Saturday morning, June 19th, after a long illness. He was born in St. Marys, August 24, 1876, the son of Wm. and Rebecca Hesse. Most of his life was spent on a farm near St. Marys with the exception of seventeen years when he was with the Byrnes Elevator Co.
He was married to Miss Mary Gutshall. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Helen Burke of Salina and Mr. Wm. Hesse of Rossville. Mrs. Hesse passed away in February, 1943.
On March 4, 1944, he was married to Mrs. Nellie Chapman.
He was a member of the St. Marys Congregational Church, Pottawatomie Lodge No. 52, A. F. and A. M., and Artha Chapter No. 238, 0. E. S.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mrs. Nellie Hesse, his daughter, Mrs. Helen Burke and his son, Mr. Wm. Hesse; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Miss Lena Hesse of Ocean Park, California, Miss Clara Hesse of St. Marys and Mrs. Jessie Woodburn of Topeka.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Congregational church at St. Marys with burial in the Rossville cemetery. Pallbearers were Emmett Stambaugh, Guy Salisbury, Will Yocum, John Tufts, Arthur Holvorson and Harold Wells.
