    Obituary- Higginbotham, George
    George Higginbotham
George A. Higginbotham, son of the late Cyrus W. and Mary Higginbotham, died early Saturday morning April 19, 1947, from a heart attack.

His sudden passing was a shock to Rossville people as he had worked at Topeka as usual Friday, came home and worked for a time in his garden. He became ill during the night, passing away about 2 a.m.

George was born in Rossville, Ks., February 21, 1884, and lived in Rossville his entire life. He attended the Rossville schools, later attending Washburn college and Strickler's Business school. He learned the mercantile business in his father's store, who was engaged in the mercantile business here over 50 years.

George was active in raising pure bred dairy live stock for a number of years. He was superintendent for three years of the Dairy department at the State Hospital and afterwards employed at the Clothing stores in Topeka. He was employed at the J.C. Penny Co. in Topeka at the time of his death.

His friends will remember his cheerful smile, and his willingness and desire and kindness in helping others. He leaves to mourn his departure one sister, Edith Higginbotham of the home, several cousins and a host of friends, who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Rossville, Monday, April 21, conducted by the Rev. H.L. Nelson of Topeka.

Music was furnished by Irene Campbell, Ruth Hesse, Lorene Harth, Glen Garrett and Virginia Parr at the church. A chorus was chosen from the three churches to sing at the cemetery. The musical selections were all George's favorites.

Pall bearers were William Kerr, Perry Stumbaugh, Sidney Stumbaugh, Irwin Snattinger, Joe Barney and Frank Zickefoose.

Burial was in the family lot in Rossville cemetery.
