    Roy A. “Short” Kemble
    Maple Hill — Roy A. "Short" Kemble, 84, died Thursday, February 23,2006 at a Topeka Hospital following surgery.

    He was born February 14,1922 near Valencia the son of Charles and Agnes Sherritts Kemble. He grew up in the Dover community and graduated from Dover High School.

    He had lived in the Dover and Maple Hill communities all of his life.
    He worked for various farmers before joining the Navy in 1942. He traveled around the world aboard ships before being discharged in 1945. He went into the trucking business with his brother Paul and later became a cattle buyer and was well know for his cattle knowledge.
    He was a member of Dover Lodge No. 330 AF/AM, the ARAB Shrine Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of die American Legion at Maple Hill.

    He was married to Frieda Flanary on November 12, 1948 in Topeka. She survives.

    Other survivors include a sister, Maude Dagg, Harveyville: brothers, Paul Kemble, Dover and Allen Kemble, Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews that will greatly miss him.

    Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 27,2006 at the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church. Interment will be in the Dover Cemetery where a funeral detail team from Ft. Riley will conduct military graveside services. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the church in Maple Hill.
