    Betty M. Kolbek
    HOLTON- Betty Marie Kolbek, 83, of Holton, KS passed away August 23,2014 at Rossville Health Care and Rehabilitation. She was born December 10,1930 in Holton, the daughter of Howard Lacey and Opal Trundle Derry.

    Betty graduated from Holton High School in 1950. She worked at Martha’s Cafe and Tastee Freeze both in Holton.

    Betty married Harold R. Kolbek on July 26,1951 in Holton. He survives of the home. Other survivors include 2 sons, Terry L. Kolbek of Topeka and Michael Kolbek (Roxann) of Silver Lake; a daughter Donna Kolbek-Griffin of Topeka; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Howard
    Lacey; her mother and step-father, Opal and Luther Derry and a brother, Vic Derry.

    Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial to follow in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
