DELIA — Charley Kolbek, 88, Delia, died Thursday, March 15,2001, at a Manhattan hospital.
Mr. Kolbek farmed in the Delia area the past 50 years. He also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 17 years before he retired in 1978. He served in Germany during World War II.
He was born March 5,1913, in Rossville the son of John and Jnovefa Klabazna Kolbek. He was a lifelong resident of the Delia community.
Mr. Kolbek was baptized in the Catholic Church and a member of the Jimmie Lillard Post 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
No immediate family members survive.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Piper- Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial with military graveside services conducted by Post 31 of the American Legion will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Kolbek will lie in state from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born March 5, 1913, in Rossville, the son of John and Jnovefa Klabazna Kolbek, and had lived in the Delia community all of his life.
He had lived on a farm near Delia since 1950. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and was stationed in Germany. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 17 years before retiring in 1978. He was baptized in the Catholic Church. He was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville for many years.
Surviving him are a niece and three nephews.
His service was at 2 p.m. Monday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys, with a military graveside service conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville. Visitation was from 2:00 until 6:00 Monday at the funeral home.
