    Leo F. Kennedy, 80, Emmett, died Sunday, April 28, at a Topeka hospital.

    Service arrangements are pending at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.


    Leo F. “Dutch” Kennedy

    Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Emmett, for Leo Francis "Dutch" Kennedy, 80, Emmett. He died late Sunday, April 28, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mr. Kennedy was a retired farmer. He was born July 23, 1904, at Emmett, the son of Christopher J. and Julia C. Reilly Kennedy, and spent his life in Emmett.

    He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the City Service Club, both at Emmett, and of Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys.

    He was married to Clara A. Aubert May 15, 1935, at St. Marys. She survives.

    Other survivors include a sister, Bridget M. Simecka, Topeka.

    Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. A rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church at Emmett.

    He was born July 23, 1904, at Emmett on the farm that he later owned. He was the son of Christopher J. and Julia C. Reilly Kennedy, and spent his life in Emmett. He lived all of his life in the house where he was born.

    He was a farmer and a stockman, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the City Service Club, both at Emmett, and of Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys.

    He was married to Clara A. Aubert May 15, 1935, at St. Marys. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Bridget M. Simecka, Topeka.

    Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church at Emmett.

    Honorary casketbearers were Joe Kennedy, Samuel Kennedy, Mark Kennedy, Rick Burton, Scott Besler and Leo Mulvahill.
