    Obituary- Kratina, Sr., John
    OBITUARY
John Kratina died at his home six miles northeast of Rossville, Dec. 6, aged 76 years, 8 months and 10 days. He was born in Pozdechov, Moravia, now a province of the Czecho-Slovakian republic.

With his wife Mr. Kratina came to this country in the spring of 1891 and settled on the old homestead northeast of town where he lived until his death. In his native country he learned the art of watch-making. In 1903 he established a jewelry and watch repairing shop in Rossville. The venture proving unprofitable, after a few years he returned to the farm.

Besides the wife, he leaves four children, two sons, Frank, manager of the Farmer's elevator, Delia; John, Jr., who has charge of the farms; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Penaz of Delia and Mrs. Geo. Uhl, Topeka.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the lodge hall in the community and was conducted by the ZCBJ Lodge of which he was a charter member. The funeral oration was delivered by the Hon, S. Dobrovlny, of Pawnee City, Nebraska.

Several vocal numbers were sung in duet by Mrs. A. B. Jamieson and Mrs. Albert Reser of Rossville. The capacious hall was filled to over-flowing with sympathizing friends and neighbors. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful in design. Burial took place in the neighborhood cemetery.

In the passing of Mr. Kratina the community loses its best loved citizen. He was a kindly, generous soul whose guide through life assuredly was the preceipt laid down in the Golden Rule. There is comfort for those who mourn in the thought that having lived to the fullness of years as accorded to mankind—years spent in peace, contentment and right dealing with his fellow men—he has now entered into that rich reward held in reserve for those who put their trust in the God of human destiny.
