    Esther Kruger
    HOLTON — Esther Kruger, 86, Holton, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mrs. Kruger taught grade school in rural Jackson County for four years, and she and her husband farmed for many years. She had operated an antique business the past 10 years.

    She was born Jan. 21, 1921, at Westboro, Mo., the daughter of Charley A. and Ada A. Bertram Knepper. She was graduated from Holton High School in 1929, and she had lived many years in the Delia area.

    Mrs. Kruger was a member of the Soldier United Methodist Church and the Quilting Club at Delia.

    She married Fred Kruger on Aug. 2, 1933, in Holton. He died Jan. 6,1998. Mrs. Kruger also was preceded in death by a son, Glen E. Kruger, in 1956, and a grandson, Fred Jungman, March 4, 1995.

    Survivors include two daughters, Arvilla Jungman, Escondido, Calif., and Jean Johnson, Monroe, La.; a sister, Margaret Knepper, Wichita; a brother, Paul B. Knepper, Longmont, Colo.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be at Holton Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

    Memorial contributions may be made Cal Farley's Boys Ranch or to Soldier United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
