    Mrs. Esther E. Mansfield
    ROSSVILLE — Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the; Rossville United Methodist Church for Mrs. Esther Elizabeth Mansfield, 78, Rossville. She died Friday, Aug. 12, 1988, at St. Mary’s Manor.

    Mrs. Mansfield worked at the Supply Depot in Pauline during World War II.

    She was born Aug. 18, 1909, at Mayetta, the daughter of Charlie and Lara Liggett Hards.

    Mrs. Mansfield was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church, and the auxiliary to Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, both at Rossville. She had been a member of Amaryllis Chapter No. 321 of Order of the Eastern Star at Rossville and became a member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of Order of the Eastern Star at Silver Lake after the consolidation of the two chapters.

    She was married to Lloyd E. Mansfield Sept. 1, 1941, at Oskaloosa. He died Oct. 27, 1973.

    Survivors include a son, Thomas “Tom” Mansfield, Forest Park, Ill.; two brothers, Leo Hards and Chet Hards, both of Topeka; and a granddaughter.

    Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Mansfield will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at the Parker-Price Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church, Rossville, 66533.
