Oliver "O.D." Marney, 51, 3410 Shawano Drive, was dead on arrival at a Topeka hospital Thursday morning. He had a heart ailment.
He was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Rossville. He had lived in the Topeka area most of his life. He had served in the Army in the Philippines during World War II. He was a salesman for Jim Clark Chrysler-Plymouth-Fiat before he retired in Feb. 1975 due to ill health.
He was a member of Capital Post No 1 of the American Legion and Moose Lodge No. 555.
He was married Sept. 29, 1941 to Faye Tomson at Lawrence. She survives. Other survivors include five sons, Larry D. Marney, Carbondale; Barry L. Marney, Route 1; Terry J. Marney, Wakarusa; Jerry R. Marney; and Perry L. Marney, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Rose Marney, 1157 Jewell; one brother, William F. Marney, 4221 N.W. Felding Road; five sisters, Margaret Marney, 1157 Jewel, Mrs. Fleta Jones, 2800 W. 10th, Mrs. Nadine Berry, 1210 Washburn, Mrs. Marie Anderson, 932 Medford, and Mrs. Betty Corwin, 861 Eastgate Drive; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davidson-Duff Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, where graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion.
Mr. Marney will lie in state at the funeral home.
