    Celebrate Golden Wedding
    ROSSVILLE RESIDENTS TO CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING — Mr. and Mrs. John S. Martin will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, June 19. A reception in their honor will be held in the Rossville Community Center from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. No invitations are being sent but friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests that no gifts be presented. Both Mr. and Mrs. Martin were born in Rossville and have spent most of their lives in the Rossville Community. They have seven children and thirty grand-children. The children are: James of Lubbock, Texas: John Jr. of Moline. Ks.; Robert and Ray of Topeka; Mrs. Bonnie Vande Velde of Kansas City. Ks.: Mrs. Nona Haltom of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Donald of the home.

    John S. Martin
    ROSSVILLE — John S. Martin, 96, Rossville died early Wednesday, Feb 6, 1991, at a Rossville nursing home.
    Mr. Martin was caretaker of Ross¬ville Cemetery for many years.
    He was born Sept. 8, 1894, at Rossville, the son of Samuel and Mary Martin, and spent all his life there.
    Mr. Martin was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and an honorary member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, both in Rossville.
    He was married to Viola M. Burns on Sept. 16, 1916, in Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. She died Feb. 28, 1983. He also was preceded in death by two sons, John Martin Jr., in 1989 and Robert B. Martin in 1990.
    Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie VandeVelde, Kansas City, Kan., and Nona Haltom, Eufala, Okla.; three sons, James Martin, Lub¬bock, Texas, and Donald Martin and Raymond Martin, both of Topeka; 34 grandchildren; and 36 great-grand¬children.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church here. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Martin will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at Verschelsen Funeral Home in St. Marys, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
