    Louis E. ‘Shorty’ Martin
    ST. MARYS— Louis E. “Shorty” Martin, 70, St. Marys, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1993, at his home. He had cancer.
    Mr. Martin worked for Rossville Truck and Tractor Co. in Rossville from 1955 until he retired in 1987. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served from 1940 to 1947 at the rank of aviation metalsmith 3rd class in the South Pacific Theater.
    He was born April 15, 1922, at Sel- man, Okla., the son of Jacob and Nathalla Miller Martin. He graduated from Selman High School in 1940 and from Diesel Mechanics School at Nashville, Tenn., in 1955. He lived in St. Marys since 1957.
    Mr. Martin was a member of Im¬maculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 and a life member of Au- bert-Walls Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7796, all at St. Marys. He also was a member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion W in Rossville.
    He was married to Mary Margaret Ryan on July 13, 1957, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. She survives.
    Other survivors include three daughters, Mary Nathalla Myers, Fort Worth, Texas, Julia Anne Ingwerson, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jane Griffin, Dallas, Texas; a son, Michael Martin, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Frieda Moun¬tain, Burlington, Colo.; a brother, George Martin, Woodward, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Con¬ception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Martin will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funer¬al Home in St. Marys where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund or the Center j for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University and left with the fu¬neral home.

    Louis E. “Shorty” Martin
    Louis E. “Shorty” Martin, 70, St. Marys, died Thursday, February 4, 1993, at his home. Mr. Martin had cancer.
    Mr. Martin worked for Rossville Truck & Tractor Company in Rossville for 32 years. He retired in 1987.
    He was born April 5, 1922, in Selman, Okla., the son of Jacob and Nathalia Miller Martin. He graduated from Selman High School in 1940. He graduated from Diesel Mechanics School in Nashville, Tenn., in 1955.
    Mr. Martin served in the Navy from April 1, 1940 until February 18, 1947. He was an Aviation Metalsmith Third Class. He served in the South Pacific. He had lived in St. Marys since 1957.
    He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #657, Life Member of VFW Aubert-Walls Post #7796, all in St. Marys; and the American Legion Jimmy Lillard Post #31, Rossville.
    He was married to Mary Margaret Ryan July 13, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. She survives.

    Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, February 8, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. VFW Aubert-Walls Post #7796 military graveside services were in Mr. Calvary Cemetery.
    A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, in Verschelden Chapel.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, or the Center for Basic Cancer Research, Kansas State University, and left at the funeral home.
