    Mary Margaret Martin
    ST. MARYS -- Mary Margaret Martin, 87, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at the St. Marys Manor.
    She was born March 12, 1924, at St. Marys, the daughter of the late Harold E. and Zita A. Sipes Ryan. Mary Margaret graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School in St. Marys and from Saint Mary College at Xavier, Kansas, with a teaching degree.
    Mrs. Martin taught school at Washington High School in Kansas City and at St. Marys High School. She later was a substitute teacher for USD No. 321. Mary Margaret was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys, where she volunteered and helped with the food pantry at the church for many years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
    On July 13, 1957, she was united in marriage to Louis E. "Shorty" Martin at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1993. She also was pre¬ceded in death by a brother, Thomas W. Ryan.
    Survivors include a son, Michael Martin, Dallas, TX; three daughters, Mary (Richard) Myers, Ft. Worth, TX, Julia (Bill) Ingwerson, St. Marys and Jane (Bill) Sass, Dallas, TX; seven grand¬children, Ian, Jenette and Maggie Ingwerson and Jennifer, Suzy, Sam and Jacob Myers.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Mrs. Martin will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 2, 2011, at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys, where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry or you may make a donation to the St. Marys Food Pantry or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church sent in care of the funeral home.
