Helen Marie Martinek, 82, Rossville, died Tues., Sept. 22, 2009, at a Rossville Nursing Home. She was born June 28, 1927, in Topeka, the daughter of Leona M. (Mosher) and John B. Richardson, Sr. Helen graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church, Loyal Chapter # 176, O.E.S., Jimmie Lillard American Legion Post Auxiliary. Helen was married to William “Bill” Martinek on July 6, 1946, in Vancouver, WA. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Richardson, Jr.; a sister, Martha Lavon Paxton; and a grandson, Jeremy Martinek. Surviving are a daughter: Shelia Martinek of Rossville; 4 sons: Dennis Martinek (Pam) of Silver Lake, Larry Martinek (Claire) of Rossville, Duane Martinek of Rossville, and Alan Martinek of Rossville; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Sept. 25, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment in Rossville Cemetery. Helen will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Helen Marie Martinek, 82, Rossville, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Rossville Nursing Home.
She was born June 28, 1927, in Topeka, the daughter of Leona M. (Mosher) and John B. Richardson, Sr. Helen graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church, Loyal Chapter No. 176, O.E.S., Jimmie Lillard American Legion Post Auxiliary.
