Mr. and Mrs. Gene A. Matney, Topeka, will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with a dance at the American Legion Hall in Rossville Saturday, Oct. 15, beginning at 9 p.m.
Gene and Helen were married in Topeka October 15, 1948. Helen is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Trahoon, Rossville.
The public is cordially invited to attend.

Gene A. and Helen W. Matney, Topeka, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary with several trips at later dates.
Gene A. Matney and Helen W. Trahoon were married Oct. 15, 1948, in Topeka.
Mr. Matney served in the U.S. Navy for more than three years during World War II in die South Pacific.
Mr. Matney retired in 1990 after 43 years of service in the sales of auto parts at various car dealerships.
Mrs. Matney retired in 1983 from the area accounting staff office of Southwestern Bell in Topeka after 40 years of service.

| Obituary- Matney, Gene Gene A. Matney
Gene A. Matney, 84, Topeka, passed away Mon., Oct. 5,2009. He was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Topeka, the son of Milligan and Cora (Livingston) Matney. He graduated from Berryton High School in 1943. Gene was a gallant warrior who served in WWII in the US Navy. Gene was a member of the Philip Billard Post #1650, VFW, Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion and the North Kansas Avenue Methodist Church. Gene was also President of the Old Time Fiddler and Pickers and Singers for 23 years. He worked as a Parts Manager in the automotive industry for 43 years. Gene was married to Helen W. Trahoon on Oct. 15, 1948. She survives. Also surviving are a brother-in-law Rolland E. Trahoon, a sister-in-law Shirley Tregemba, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Gene will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday Oct. 7, 2009 at the funeral chapel where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
