    Joseph Woodrowf Matyak
    ROSSVILLE — Joseph Woodrowf Matyak, 73, Rossville, died Friday, Nov. 22, 1996, at his home.

    Mr. Matyak farmed near Rossville and had worked 23 years for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He earlier worked for the Farmer s Elevator Co. at Delia and he served in the Army in the Pacific and in Japan during World War II.

    He was born Sept. 1, 1923, at Carter, S.D., the son of Paul and Marie Dolezilek Matyak.

    He was married to Edna Vavricek on Sept. 26,1950, at Topeka. She survives.

    Other survivors include two daughters, Donna Johnson, Wamego, and Judy Brock, Topeka; a son, Jim Matyak, Rossville; a brother, Paul F. Matyak, Delia; a sister, Lydia Anderson, Topeka; and six grandchildren.

    Private graveside services will be at the Czech-Moravian Cemetery at Rossville. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion. Mr. Matyak will lie to state from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Parker-Price Mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care Inc., 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, 66606-2800.

    Joseph W. Matyak
    Joseph Woodrowf Matyak, 73, Rossville, died at his home Friday, November 22,1996.

    He was born September 1, 1923, at Carter, S.D., the son of Paul and Marie Dolezilek Matyak.

    From July 1939 to July 1944, he was employed by the Farmers Elevator Company at Delia. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Pacific and Japan. He had farmed near Rossville and worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka for 23 years.

    He was married to Edna Vavricek September 26, 1950, at Topeka. She survives.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Donna Johnson, Wamego, and Judy Brock, Topeka; a son, Jim Matyak, Rossville; one brother, Paul F. Matyak, Delia; one sister, Lydia Anderson, Topeka; and six grandchildren.

    Family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Parker- Price Mortuary, Topeka.

    Private graveside service and interment were in the Czech- Moravan Cemetery northeast of Rossville. Military graveside honors were conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion.
