    Matyak Couple To Celebrate 45th Anniversary
    Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Genevieve Matyak will be honored for their 45th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, July 28th, at the American Legion in Rossville. A reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. with a dance following at 9 p.m. All relatives and friends are welcome to attend.

    Hosts for the occasion will be their children: Paul J. Matyak, Ed Matyak, Dorothy Barnes, Roxie Fath, Topeka; Rick Matyak, Delia; Monica Matyak, Lawrence; and families.

    Paul Matyak and Genevieve Grace were married July 26th, 1945, at Sacred Heart Church and made their home in Delia. They started their own auto repair business, Matyak's Garage, in 1945. Paul worked as an auto mechanic and Genevieve handled all the accounting and record keeping for the business and customers. He recently retired after 45 years of service to the Delia community. She is still employed as treasurer of the Delia City Council.

    The Matyak's have nine grandchildren.

    Paul and Genevieve Matyak, Delia, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an ice cream social from 2 to 4 p.m. July 23 in the Community Building in Delia.

    It will be hosted by their children and their families, Paul J. Matyak, Delia; Ed and Kathy Matyak, Topeka; Dorothy Barnes and Eldon Fastrup, Topeka; Roxie and David Fath, Tecumseh; Rick and Melody Matyak, Delia; and Monica and Jay Steiner, Olathe. The couple have nine grandchildren.

    Paul Frank Matyak and Genevieve Clare Grace were married July 26, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia.

    Mr. Matyak, who owned and operated Matyak’s Garage in Delia, retired after 45 years of service. Mrs. Matyak was bookkeeper for Matyak’s Garage for approximately 45 years and was Delia city treasurer or 19 years.

    Marcia Johnson became the bride of Paul J. Matyak September 25, 1976 in the First Baptist Church, Topeka, Ks. The Reverend Dr. Paul Eppinger heard the exchange of vows.

    The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Max Johnson, Concordia, and the late Mr. Johnson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Matyak, Delia.

    Attending the couple were Kathy Upton, Hiawatha; Ann Swenson, Winfield, Ed Matyak and Rick Matyak, Delia.

    Mrs. Matyak attended Concordia High School, Cloud County Community Junior College and Emporia State College. Mr. Matyak attended Delia High School and is employed by National Comp. Insurance Associates of Dallas, Tex.

    Paul Joseph Matyak, 49, Topeka, died Thursday, August 8, 1996, at the Colmery-O'Neil V.A.M.C. in Topeka.

    He was born April 24, 1947, at Wamego, the son of Paul F. and Genevieve Clare Grace Matyak. For the past 20 years, he had lived in Topeka.

    He was graduated from Delia High School and attended Kansas State University at Manhattan. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and had served in Vietnam. He was self-employed in auto sales. For several years, he had been a machinist in the Topeka area.

    He was married to Marcia Johnson; they were divorced.

    His mother, Genevieve Clare Matyak, died Wednesday, August 7, 1996.

    Surviving him are two daughters, Jenny Matyak, Topeka, and Libby Matyak, Amarillo, Tex.; his father, Paul F. Matyak, Delia; two brothers, Ed Matyak, Topeka, and Rick Matyak, Delia; and three sisters, Dorothy Barnes, Topeka, Roxann Fath, Tecumseh, and Monica Steiner, Olathe.

    Family and friends met Thursday evening at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka.

    A double funeral service with Paul's mother, Genevieve Matyak, was at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Delia. Burial was in the Czech-Moravan Cemetery northeast of Rossville.
