| Obituary- McCarter, Terrill 2 HOLTON MEN DIE IN CRASH
HOLTON – Two Holton youths were killed in a one-vehicle accident Thursday on a county road two miles north and 1 ½ miles west of Holton.
The Kansas highway Patrol identified them as Terrell E. McCarter, 20, and Dennis D. DeVader, 19.
Further details of the accident were not available.
Terrell Eugene McCarter, son of Epoe and Ione King McCarter, Route 1, Holton, was born Sept. 3, 1954, in Jackson County. He had lived all his life in the Holton community.
He was graduated from Holton High School in 1973 and had been a welder at BMB Co. at Holton for 14 months.
Survivors besides his parents, include a sister, Mrs. Betty Heward, Holbrook, Ariz.; a brother, Mark E. McCarter of the home and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey King, Holton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, with burial in Holton Cemetery.
Dennis Dean DeVader, son of Francis E. and Edna Martin DeVader, was born Sept. 11, 1955, at Topeka. He had lived most of his life in the Holton community.
He was graduated from Holton High School in 1974 and had just started work at the BMB Co. at Holton.
He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at Holton. Survivors, besides his parents, include three sisters, Mrs. Janice Heslop, 1900 W. Lyman, Topeka, Mrs. Ingrid Olson, Westminster, Calif., and Lisa Diane DeVader of the home; five brothers, Dan E. DeVader, Wetmore, Henry DeVader, stationed with the Navy in Hawaii and Peter E. DeVader, Douglas W. DeVader and Martin J. DeVader, all of the home, and grandparents, Mrs. Ines DeVader, Holton, and Mrs. Edith Martin, Rossville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, with burial in the Mount Calvary Cemetery west of Holton. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mercer Funeral Home, Holton.
The families suggest memorial contributions may be made to a fund for the heart monitor machine at Holton Hospital and sent in care of Denison State Bank, Holton. |
